Vintage Handmade Amish Pinwheels Quilt from Holmes County, Ohio.  The date of 1976 is embroidered in the lower left corner of this traditional quilt.  It has machine sewn piecework and hand sewn quilting.  There are two different sets of pinwheels, each made of two colors of fabrics.  They are randomly placed and are each quilted following the blades of the pinwheel.  Next to each of these squares is a plain blue square that has a quilted wagon wheel on it.  Surrounding these small blocks is dark green sashing that has a lovely quilted pattern of continuous leaves.  Surrounding this is a dark blue boarder with a quilted pattern of diamonds and cones.  The edge is finished with a band of dark green.  The back is a wonderful bright blue which shows off the various quilting patterns beautifully.  Over all the quilt is in good condition other that these few issues:  There is one tear, one seam that has come open approx 1/2" and one mended seam on the front.  There is one tear on the back.  See the close up photos and use the penny as reference for size.  Quilt size is:   76" x 60".
