Antique Victorian christening gown, which has been produced from white cotton which has been embroidered with Ayrshire whitework to the bodice. I suspect the gown has been produced in the 1890's, using a much older gown of the 1840's, and the bodice would date to the this period, with the simple pintuck skirt being of a later date, circa 1890's . The dress fastens to back the via cord ties to the neck and waist. AGE - Late Victorian, circa 1890. MEASUREMENTS - Chest = 19p" (under bodice/arms) Sleeve= 3¼" (shoulder to cuff) Length= 44" (shoulder to hem) CONDITION - The gown is in good condition for age, although I suspect it has been made up from two different gowns. Please refer to the above photographs for details of condition.
