FULL SET OF TWELVE

STERLING SILVER

CANADIAN TEASPOONS

This listing is for a set of TWELVE sterling

silver teaspoons made in first half of

the 20th century by Canadian silver

makers Roden Brothers Ltd.

MARK:

STERLING and 925R with a lion passant

They are a decent teaspoon size with

a nice, deep bowl.

I believe the pattern is called Stratford.

They have been monogrammed with

the letter C (C) in old English Script.

You rarely see a full set of twelve 12

teaspoons, normally at least one has

been thrown away accidently but

this set is complete!

 ********

Roden Brothers was a Canadian tableware

 design and manufacturing company.

It was founded on June 1, 1891 in Toronto

 by Thomas and Frank Roden.

In the 1910s the firm became known as

Roden Bros. Ltd. and were later taken over by

Henry Birks and Sons in 1953.

Roden Bros Ltd.'s silver was supplied by the

province of British Columbia and with it they

produced a wide range of silver items

including tea wares, flatware, toilet wares,

baby items, trophies, shields and novelties,

 as well as jewellery.

The company offered a variety of flatware

patterns that included Stratford, Queens,

 and Louis XV.

Roden Bros Ltd.'s mark included the word

Sterling, followed by 925, an R and a lion passant.

CONDITION

In very good vintage/antique condition

overall with only a few signs of age and use.

General age related surface marks to

the silver as would be expected from

vintage silverwares.

One teaspoon looks a bit more used

than the others, the finish in the bowl

is a bit duller and the handle is a little

bent so it doesn’t sit at quite the same

angle as the others that all sit fairly

evenly – not a big deal but mentioning

for accuracy of description.

DIMENSIONS

They measure approximately:

13 cm (5 1/8") long

Total silver weight is:  201.7 grams
