1831 white metal medal NEW LONDON BRIDGE first stone & opened - BHM# 1547 R - Rare in WM !


This rare and highly collectible bright white metal medallion commemorates the inaccurately dated first stone laid on the 14th March 1824 by London mayor John Garratt Esq, and the correctly dated opening of the New London Bridge by King William IV and Queen Adelaide on August 1st 1831.

The correct date for the first stone laid was 15th June 1825.


Reference: Listed in British Historical Medals 1760-1960 as BHM# 1547 and noted as R (Rare) in WM (White Metal)



Condition: Collector's grade for this rare type in white metal, and a pleasing uncleaned silver coloured patina.
