Wonderful, English sampler sewn by Hannah Tate.
Although undated, the style and lettering point towards a date of the late 1700s very early 1800s making it Georgian. Note the use of the long 's' shown as 'f".
The sampler depicts a variety of motifs to include the alphabet, traditional flowers, birds, as well as a pious verse and crucifixion scene all set within a meandering floral border.
The verse reads:
Didst though not die that I might live
No longer to myself but thee
Might body soul and spirit give
To him who gave himself for me
Fulfil fulfil my large desires
Large affinity
Give give me all my soul ye quiter
All all that in thee
