The above lines are added by eBay, who has no knowledge of automobile repair or restoration.  Laws vary from state to state; what a buyer chooses to do with a vehicle once it's in their possession is entirely their business.

1940 Chevrolet Convertible parts donor package:

This should be fairly obvious - this is a donor parts package to be used to build a 1940 Chevrolet convertible using a solid coupe or tudor sedan as a donor car.  Some of the parts are in rough shape, but there is a frame X brace, doors, top well and a complete set of bows here.  Some pieces, such as the windshield frame, may only be suitable as patterns for a conversion.  But they're certainly better than nothing.  This car still has the factory spinner wheel, given nice examples bring $2500 and up it's worth $500 or so for a core and another $500-$1000 to recast, rechrome and otherwise restore it.  Take as much or as little as you want, it includes the bumper cores with fancy end wings, cowl, doors, rear body, frame, etc.  The car sat upside down for probably 30-40 years, someone started to cut the frame X out, and between flipping it over and hauling it out the car just fell apart - most of the common pieces I didn't bother to take the time to bring back, where it sat it had a rearend, a transmission, some rotty fenders and other pieces.  You may be able to use the top bows and body parts on a Pontiac or small Buick/Olds coupe, whichever of the other GM cars shared the Chevrolet body shell for 1940, but a lot of the parts are one year only - and a lot of these parts I've never even seen listed for seperate sale on eBay.

I do have a line on a second one of these I would be willing to add to inventory to make a package deal, which is sitting right-side up and may provide some body parts in better condition than some of the admittedly poor pieces on this carcass.  However to move that car I may need to cut it into pieces that can be hand carried.

This car has drawn more than a fair share of critics, self proclaimed car experts with nothing better to do.  This is marketed for master craftsmen who build cars from the ground up and require correct original parts regardless of condition.  This is not marketed for welfare rodders who's idea of building a car is to spray paint Grandma's '78 Nova in flat black with red wheels and as many skulls, crosses, and spiderwebs as humanly possible decorating the car.  If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell, it hardly takes up any space, chances are good sooner or later I'll run into a coupe or tudor with a smashed top and I'll just cut that apart and add the donor pieces from this and sell that as a convertible project.  If you're ignorant, hey, it's a free country - but we could care less, so advertise that to someone else please.  This is not Wal-mart and we do not have to put up with people's disrespectful nonsense.

WE ARE NOT A SALVAGE YARD - WE DO NOT PART OUT VEHICLES

Terms of sale: All cars are sold AS-IS. These are old cars and many have rust issues, they can have problems which are not apparent without a more detailed inspection and as such we may not be aware of the issues. Any prospective buyer is welcomed to make an appointment to come inspect a car in person prior to buying. Nonrefundable deposit of 10% or $500 whichever is greater due within 7 days. Must be paid in full or arrangements made within 14 days. 30 days storage is included to give you plenty of time to arrange to get the vehicle. We're flexible with weather concerns particularly in the winter; storage on paid cars can be arranged in advance for $50 per month, but if a buyer can't be contacted or is unable to make suitable arrangements, $10 per day storage fees will be applied against the amount that's been paid on the car. We're not unreasonable, but we do need to run this as a proper business.

eBay forces me to include this redundant and confusing statement in this listing - their words, not mine: “This vehicle is being sold for parts only and is not operational or street legal. Therefore, upon purchase, it will need to be either towed or trailered. eBay encourages its members to learn about their state laws governing vehicle sales prior to the sale or purchase of a vehicle.”
