1.5V - 6V MINIATURE SOLENOID

These are a miniature 'pull' solenoid, operate quite happily from 1.5v upto 6v, 100mA max.

Quite strong for the small useful size, they also have a magnet that retains the plunger once the voltage has been removed. By gently opening the coil frame it is possible to remove the 2 magnets leaving just a usual solenoid, it may also be possible to grind down a spacer at the back of the frame, increasing the stroke by a further 5mm.

The plunger has a stroke of about 8 or 9mm and is about 4mm in diameter, with a 5mm x 2mm slot engineered into the end, with a 1mm hole either side which is used for securing something in the slot.

Please note, because these are small solenoids with a current consumption of 100mA maximum, connecting them straight to an unlimited current power supply (like a battery) will result in almost instantaneous burning out of the coil, rendering the solenoid unservicable. You must calculate and use a current limit resistor to avoid this.

Dimensions of the body are roughly 20mm long x 7mm high x 10mm wide.

There are 2 tapped mounting holes on the bottom that look to be about 2mm.
Fitted with about 16cm wire.
