A Hazara prayer cloth from Bamiyan - mid 20th century

Vintage embroidered silk prayer cloth, circa 1950, made by the Hazara people of Afghanistan. Cloths were made to protect the prayer stone where a man's forehead would be placed while praying. Research shows that the triangular shapes are typical of Hazara embroidery, and the images at the top would be the mosque and minarets.
