Engine Diagnostic code reader LED, for Mazda MX-5 & Eunos Roadster mk1 & mk2

Contains LED with correct connectors and jumper wire to fit MX-5 mk1 and mk2 diagnostic port on the inner wing under the bonnet.

Note, this only works for MX-5 models up to year 2000 as after that they used an OBD2 system (mk2.5 models).

Made for us by binarypunk, this allows you to interrogate the engine ECU, to reveal any stored fault codes that might indicate, or help diagnose a problem with your engine. As there is no 'check engine' light on the dash, it is not possible to know if any faults have been logged until you read them with one of these.

Also note the ABS codes are on a different system and they are not stored, so you can't read them using this. Mazda dealers can read them if they are actually happening at the time, but even then they aren't reliable, often blaming the pump or the ABS computer when it's a wheel sensor.  ABS diagnosis is done by checking the sensors with a known good one or a multimeter.  Normally it's front left (in about 75% of cases).
