This beautiful antique textile bag made by katwaz Pashtuns from southeastern Afghanistan . It features shisha (mirrors) fastened by buttonhole stitches and herringbone stitching in silk thread on a dark purple silk background. Metallic couching accentuates the mirrorwork, with beaded fringes on all four sides of the textile. Condition: Excellent. No rips, no tears, no stains. Circa: mid to late 19 th century.

This attractive hand-embroidered purse from Katawaz province measures 10 x 9 cm.
