an antique, 18th century bronze and brass statue of

a male Hindu, Tamil Nadu, Deity on a horse

we think it represents the village God - Grama Devata:

Ayyanar or Madurai Veeran on his stallion

the horseman is casted with many details of a nobleman: a moustache, a flat headdress, earrings, a large necklace with pendant, a shield, a bracelet, a double belt and 3 ankle rings on each side

the horse stands proud on a decorative, incised pedestal and is tackled up with a richely decorated bridle, saddle and further horsegear

the horseman fits with a ring on his back (from the belt) on a upwards stave (from the saddle)
