The Petoskey Stone is a fossilized coral (Hexagonaria pericarnata) from a coral reef that existed in the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan during the Devonian era, 350 million years ago. These stones range from 3/4 to 1 1/4 inch in the longest dimension, most are in between. About 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Please reference picture for actual sizes.
