The design of XTC puts its lowered Centre of Gravity closer to the plane of the stylus than other "dropped" counterweights can manage.
The rotational forces have less vector variation which improves tracking.
XTC is available for a number of arms, and has consistently had positive effects.
The counterweight itself is lacquered brass, with a delrin collar and stainless steel set screw.

The original counterweight on the 774 appears to be dropped at first glance, but it still sits at least 14mm ABOVE the stylus plane.
Factor in the mass of the arm and headshell, and the arm's CG is now over 15mm above the stylus plane.
Conclusion: a "dropped" counterweight worthy of the name has to be significantly lower.

My brother Tim recently bought your counterweight for his new Funk FXR11 tonearm to which I had the pleasure of
an evening with hooked up to my modified Rega 300 bolted to a hot rodded Audionote TT2. Suffice to say my
tracking (Which was already very good) improved greatly sounding like my tonearm had suddenly grown 3 inches!

Tried out the counterweight last night. Amazing improvement over the stock CW in every way. Most noticeably, as
they say so often, a veil is lifted. Everything is less tentative. Bass coming through more solid, percussions  have
the final "ring" of the real things, more depth and soundstage anchored more accurately. These are all preliminary
impressions after a few hours of listening. I have no hesitation recommending your CW to Hadcock owners if these
