Description
Up
for sale is one Parker Vacumatic Diaphragm / Sac for the Parker
Vacumatic Debutante, Duofold Ingenue (late 1940's) and
Parker "51"s - the diaphragm on the far left in the
picture. The Parker given name for this item is a Diaphragm (often
referred to as a Sac as it looks a lot like a conventional Sac), but
it doesn't really hold any ink like a conventional ink sac. Instead,
when the filling plunger is pressed, the diaphragm is extended inside
the barrel forcing air out. When the plunger is released the
diaphragm retracts pulling ink in through the feed. It takes about 8
- 10 plunges to fill a Vac to capacity - pause briefly between
plunges to allow the ink to be fully pulled into the barrel.
This Diaphragm is brand
new, includes the retention pellet and was recently molded. I use
them myself to repair Vacumatics and have never had a problem. Before
installing, trim it to 1 1/16 inches long.
The
following chart might be of use as a guide in selecting the right
size diaphragm - all three are in separate listings: Diaphragm
