This is a previously-owned, youth-small (YS), orange T-shirt with “Hobie Freaks” printed on the front and “Hobie Rippin’ Freaks” printed on the back. It measures approximately 12 inches (from underarm seam to underarm seam) and is in great condition (Hobie brand, 50% cotton / 50% polyester). In 1950, Hobart "Hobie" Alter began building 9-foot balsawood surfboards for his friends. After a few years of success, he opened up Southern California's first surf shop in Dana Point, California. Then, in 1958 Alter and Gordon Clark started making surfboards out of foam and fiberglass and established the legendary Hobie Surf Team, which featured Joey Cabell, Phil Edwards, Corky Carroll, Gary Propper, Peter Pan, Mickey Munoz, Joyce Hoffman and Yancy Spencer among others
