MotorsportMemorabilia 1982 Grand Prix commemorative cover signed KEKE ROSBERG

1982 should have been Didier Pironi's but having qualified on Pole Position for the German GP at Hockenheim, he crashed in practice and missed the last 5 races of the season. The final race decided the Drivers' Championship between Keke Rosberg on 42 points and John Watson who had scored 33; although Watson finished ahead of Rosberg he had to be content with equal second in the championship, with Pironi.

The Constructors' Championship was equally tight with Patrick Tambay, Gilles Villeneuve and Mario Andretti all scoring points to add to Pironi's to help Ferrari with the 126C2 to the title. McLaren came a close second with the MP4 & MP4Bs of Watson and Niki Lauda and the Renault RE30Bs of Alain Prost and Rene Arnoux were third. The Renaults had led for almost half the laps during the season but suffered from reliability problems.

Ross Wardles artwork depicts Keke Rosberg's Williams-Cosworth 08 leading the Swiss GP at Dijon-Prenois (in France), followed Alain Prost's Renault RE30B and Niki Lauda driving a McLaren-Cosworth MP4B.

The third special is signed by KEKE ROSBERG who won 3 Karting Championships (Scandinavian 1966 / Finnish 1966 & 68) before upgrading to Formula Vee / Super Vee. He won numerous races in both 1300 & 1600cc categories and took the Castrol GTX Trophy, Solex Cup and German Championship in 1975.

He had a brief involvement with the Toj F2 team in 1976 but joined Fred Opert in 1977 to win the Stuyvesant Tasman Series Championship in consecutive years. He went on to race in Europe and the Labatt's Atlantic series in North America. In 1978 he impressed the F1 world by winning the International Trophy Race in a Theodore TR1. His first F1 season saw him drive for Theodore, ATS, Wolf and back to ATS.

A full season with Wolf followed in 1979, with a move to Fittipaldi for 1980/81 and his first F1 championship points. From 1982-85, he drove for Williams, becoming Champion in 1982 and winning 5 races with the team. He moved to McLaren for 1986, scoring points on 8 occasions.

After his retirement from F1, he drove in the 1991 World Sports Car Championship, co-driving a Peugeot with Yannick Dalmas to win at Magny Cours and in Mexico; in the 1992-95 period, he drove in the German DTM series and set up his own team, running works backed Opels.

From 1995 he managed his son Nico's racing career; this budding driver has followed in his father's footsteps winning the 2002 Formula BMW Championship and testing for Williams F1. Keke Rosberg also managed the careers of Mika Hakkinen and JJ Lehto.
