Welcome to the Royal Highland Hotel Inverness

One of the most famous and best loved hotels in Scotland

The Royal Highland Hotel is the oldest hotel in the centre of the Highland capital, Inverness. In 2000, the property was carefully restored, retaining its unique character associated with the bygone age. As soon as you enter the hotel you will appreciate this. In the foyer the grand staircase, the inspiration for the Titanic's staircase, leads to the 84 spacious refurbished bedrooms - all with very high ceilings. The decor is rich with traditional furniture and deep colours. The rooms all have soft furnishings and antique style furniture. The excellent bathrooms are generally medium to large in size.

For over 151 years, the hotel has been looking after travellers from all over the world. Perhaps its popularity stems from the fact the hotel is a grand place to stay. Large bedrooms, large lounge areas, quiet meeting rooms, good food, prime location and friendly staff all play their part. All local amenities close to hand, but within a 5 minute drive you are out into the dramatic Highlands. Loch Ness is only 7 miles from the hotel.

Bedrooms

Expect and enjoy 84 meticulously clean, cared for, spacious quiet bedrooms. The rooms have been tastefully contemporised whilst retaining their unmistakeably traditional feel. Pleasantly 'old fashioned', yet unobtrusively modern, thoughtfully appointed, offering a classical ambience, yet with every contemporary comfort, including bathroom, satellite television and direct dial telephones and even a choice of pillows.

Restaurant & Bar & Cafe

Ash is our new cafe/bar/restaurant situated right in the heart of Inverness city within the Royal Highland Hotel. Done out in rich cherry wood and taupe colours it is the place to be seen. Ash is where you come to enjoy good food with an even greater atmosphere and superb prices. The restaurant has something to offer for everyone with a wide variety on the menu with over 100 choices for you to choose from, whether traditional Scottish cuisine or something a little more exotic, from Paninis to steaks.

Gallery Cafe
To the right of the spacious lobby and grand staircase is the Gallery café. Ideal for those mainly wanting a lighter bite or snack, although an extensive menu does cater for more substantial meals too as a relaxing alternative in a completely different and more classical ambience to that of the more contemporary, chic Ash Restaurant.

The grand wallace ballroom / the royal magnus meeting room
For smaller conferences and events, the Grand Ballroom is perfectly complemented by the smaller, yet very comfortable and spacious Royal Magnus Room. Perfect for that more mid-sized conference or training event for up to 50 people. Or for smaller celebrations, weddings and dinners where perhaps a more intimate atmosphere than that of the Wallace Ballroom is required.

Full business and secretarial services are available, as well as a full conference/meeting catering service – and there is a small bar adjacent to the room.

Sightseeing

Inverness is the best place to base a visit to all the many attractions of the surrounding highlands.
Inverness was designated a city in the millennium year 2000. However, settlements in the area date back several thousand years and can be seen at sites such as Clava Cairns a few miles from Inverness, a place definitely worth a visit and Craig Phadrig, an Iron Age hill fort nearby, from which there are splendid views of Inverness. Read oin in this section to discover all the delights and visitor highlights of Inverness, capital of the Scottish highlands.

And there are very few people in the modern world who have not heard of Loch Ness! The Loch Ness Monster, ‘Nessie’, is a recurrent figure in modern literature, television movies and games. Loch Ness, the largest freshwater lake in the British Isles, is twenty four miles long and, at one point, one and a half miles wide. It has an average depth of four hundred and fifty feet and at times plunges close to a thousand. It is cold and murky, with dangerous currents. In short, it is the perfect place to hide a monster from even the most prying eyes of science.

Inverness & further afield

Drive to Fort William and let the striking scenery of the Great Glen unfold ahead of you –first Loch Ness, then Loch Oich finally Loch Lochy, then Ben Nevis.. Visit the attractive village of Fort Augustus. Stop at Urquhart Castle - visit the castle and perhaps enjoy a cruise on the loch.

Take a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye. Make a photo-stop at Eilean Donan Castle, perched on its island at the head of Loch Duich. Marvel at the views when you stop at this most picturesque of castles. Soon you’ll cross "over the sea to Skye" and visiting the beautiful gardens of the Clan Donald Centre before enjoying the dramatic scenery of the famed Cuillin Mountains. Leave some time for some ‘beach combing’ before returning to Inverness.

Take an excursion to nearby Culloden Moor where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s dreams came to a bloody end. Carry on south for a spectacular drive south through the Highlands. From the Spey Valley and the Cairngorm Mountains, travel through Glen Garry to the pretty Victorian resort of Pitlochry. Haver a break there then travel back to Dalwhinnie and take the Laggan Road through Monarch of the Glen Country to Spean Bridge, and homeward bound via Loch Ness.

Touring Inverness & the Highlands

Not only is Inverness truly "the city in the Highlands" - a well-resourced small city and an ideal highland holiday or short break destination, but it is also a fantastic touring centre with plenty to see and do all around by way of sport and leisure activities.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Kingussie, Carrbridge, Grantown-on-Spey
  • Loch Ness, Culloden and Cawdor
  • Nairn, Fort George, Dingwall and Around
  • The Tain Peninsula, North of Bonar Bridge, Dornoch

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS of SST Touristik-Vertrieb GmbH Blumauerstraße 7, 4020 Linz

I. General

1.) SST Touristik-Vertrieb GmbH (hereinafter referred to as: “Agent”) brokers vouchers for tourism services within the framework of the tourist sector in accordance with § 94 Z 56 of the Austrian Commercial Code (“GewO”). Consequently, SST Touristik-Vertrieb GmbH is solely an agent and not a travel business per se. Neither does it accept any bookings.

2.) These General Terms & Conditions constitute an integral component of the Agent’s offer.

II. Conclusion of the Contract

1.) By means of the Internet auction platform “e-Bay”, the Agent brokers on behalf of third-parties vouchers for services provided by tour operators, transportation companies, hoteliers, guest-house proprietors as well as holiday apartments.

2.) In order to initiate a contractual relationship, the bidder participating in the online auction must accept the offer in question by submitting a binding bid. The offer lapses if another bidder submits a higher bid during the period of the online auction. Once the duration of the online auction has expired, a contract is accomplished with the bidder who has placed the highest bid.

3.) If a voucher is offered for immediate purchase within the framework of an “Immediate Sale”, the contract is accomplished upon acceptance of the offer to be brokered by the bidder.

4.) The Agent is obligated to the purchaser to convey the voucher, in which those services are documented which can be bought by means of the voucher, by whatever technically feasible means the Agent chooses, especially by email or transmission of “links” to a given Internet site, from which the voucher can then be printed out.

5.) Vouchers are – unless otherwise stipulated in individual cases – transferrable to third-parties; A right to redemption of the voucher in cash, beyond the scope of legal or contractual provisions, does not exist.

6.) The voucher is issued by the provider of the tourism services. The voucher which has been purchased serves as a voucher for those services which are documented on the voucher and which are to be provided by the issuer in question to the contracting party. It is only valid for the time period stipulated on the voucher. The contract for the provision of services is entered into by the contracting party with the issuer of the voucher.

7.) The contracting party will pay no compensation to the Agent for his brokering services.

III. Payment Conditions and Process

1.) Upon entering into the contract (immediate purchase) or upon submitting the highest bid, the contracting party undertakes to transfer the immediate-purchase price or the amount of the bid offer within three days of said amount becoming due, and to do so to the account of SST Touristik-Vertrieb GmbH.

2.) In the event of late payment, the contracting party undertakes to pay the Agent default charges above and beyond the purchase price in the statutory amount. Furthermore, the Agent is entitled to assert compensation rights pertaining to damages incurred by the Agent due to the contracting party, in particular the costs which are necessary due to appropriate extrajudicial collection measures, insofar as these are proportionate to the receivable amount subject to collection.

3.) In the event that the purchase price has not been deposited to the Agent’s account within 7 days of becoming due, the Agent is entitled, pursuant to stipulation of a commensurate deadline, to rescind the contract, insofar as the Agent does not insist upon fulfillment thereof. At such point as the rescission comes into effect, the Agent is entitled to auction off the tourism services, which had been the subject of the aforementioned contract, within the framework of other online auctions. Even in the event the Agent rescinds the contract, the contracting party remains liable for any and all damages resulting from his default. The Agent will – notwithstanding any other damage claims – pursue damages for the difference between the price, the payment of which the contracting party had originally committed to, and the actual price attained within the scope of subsequent auctions.

4.) Upon receipt of payment, the Agent will send the voucher to the email address provided by the contracting party at the time the contract was entered into.

5.) At the time the voucher is redeemed for services, the voucher will be handed over to the issuer.

IV. Guarantee and Liability

1.) The Agent guarantees that he is authorized by the issuer of the voucher in question to broker said voucher and to accept payments by the contracting party on behalf of the issuer.

2.) The Agent is only liable for damages to the contracting party resulting from non- or poor fulfillment of the contract concluded between the contracting party and the issuer of the voucher, to the extent that such damages are the result of culpable and unlawful behavior on the part of the Agent.

3.) The risk with regards to possible insolvency of the issuer of the voucher – notwithstanding the liability of the Agent for his own fault, for example were he to broker a voucher issued by a business that was already insolvent – is borne by the contracting party.

4.) The Agent is only liable for damages which the Agent himself or a person attributable to him has caused to the contracting party – except for personal damages and damages as may be caused by a breach of a principle contractual obligation – if they are the result of premeditation or gross negligence.

V. Electronic Data Collection:

1.) The contracting party expressly agrees to the electronic collection, processing and transmission to the voucher-issuer by the Agent of data necessary (name, address, email address) within the scope of the business relationship, in order for the issuer to provide the services as promised.

2.) The contracting party expressly agrees to the sharing of his name as well as email address with partner businesses of the Agent as cited below. This data is used exclusively for the sending of a newsletter. This data-sharing agreement can be rescinded at any time by means of an informal declaration directed to the issuer. The rescission of the agreement to receive a newsletter and the deletion of data which was shared pertaining thereto can be affected by means of a link labeled “Cancel” contained in every newsletter. The aforementioned partners are: mit – Reisen GmbH, hoxami(.)com marketing & vertrieb gmbh, Best Case Handels GmbH.

VI. Place of Fulfillment, Seat of Jurisdiction and Applicable Law:

1.) The seat of the Agent – A-4020 Linz, Blumauerstraße 7 – is hereby stipulated as the place of fulfillment and payment location.
