VINTAGE BORDEN Milk Can LIDDED Dispenser STEEL TIN PLATED Dairy Advertisement

5 Gallons 20 ½” tall x 10 ¾” across and weighs 16 + pounds empty, it is a heavy can  

Steel with original tin plating, lidded MILK CAN EMBOSSED BORDEN’S on the lid and on the side of the can.

It has a barbed fitting recessed into the bottom rim for the dispensing hose– Nice heavy handles-

They were used commercially to dispense milk one glass at the time 

I am 74 years old and I remember them being used in the University Wisconsin –Madison Dorm  Common’s dispensing milk on demand - connected to rubber hoses in a cooler designed to hold them much like todays soda dispensers. A reusable eco-friendly idea that eliminated all the individual containers and resulting trash.

This can is one of best condition I have ever seen among all the vintage milk cans is in original unaltered state.   

Great vintage condition- no cracks, a few dings - some rust on the bottom outside rim. A lot of the original finish still present and shiny. This in a vintage piece and has its normal signs of wear. It has patina this is what gives it its character and confirms its age.  Please zoom and view all photos as they part of the description
