- A multipurpose fighter derived from the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F-2 began its service in the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force in 2000. Ninety-four have been ordered and the first 76 have already been delivered with manufacturing coming from a 60/40 split between Japan and the United States. The aircraft program was controversial as the per-unit cost - $127 million - is roughly four times that of its Fighting Falcon Block 50 counterpart. Made by Hobby Master, this 1/72 scale, die cast model is a replica of an F-2A serving with the 8th Tactical Fighter Squadron of the JASDF. It features engraved panel lines, a glazed opening canopy, a well-equipped cockpit (with a removable pilot figure), a detailed exhaust nozzle, full weapons complement (including two GBU-54 and two fuel tanks, as seen in the 2016 blockbuster Shin Godzilla), optional-position landing gear, authentic markings, and a display stand. Measures approximately 8.5 in long with a 6 in wingspan.
