The story of Nigerian singer Kiki Gyan is a remarkable one. He began his recording career as a member of Afro-funk outfit Osibisa at 15 and was a millionaire by the time he turned 18. In the early '80s he made the move to New York, diving headfirst into the party scene, before recording the standout solo album of his all-too-brief career, 1983's Feelin' Alright. It remains something of an Afro-boogie classic, with Gyan and his collaborators - mostly local musicians recruited by the studio - laying down a succession of killer tracks that expertly fuse elements of jazz-funk, soul, disco and, on standout "Love To Love You", electrofunk.
