Sasha Kate is an approximately 16 1/2" jointed vinyl Sasha doll that was manufactured by the Gotz Company in W. Germany circa 1965-1969.  She bears the "Sasha Serie" markings in circles on both her back and the back of her neck. She wears her original navy blue and white checked Viyelia dress & coordinating panties, a white ribbed undershirt, a pair of ribbed nylon (?) white socks, and a pair of white center snap leather shoes.  On her right wrist, she wears her large silver medallion with its "Sasha Serie" logo, while on her left hand is tied with white string her Creative Playthings "What I've got to tell you" tag (wrinkling and foxing). Included also is her large white and turquoise Creative Playthings box.  Her box is foxed and worn with the number "50" penciled on one of its outer sides.  One of its ends is stamped "D-292"  and handwritten on that end also in large script in black magic marker is "Brunette Sasha Doll."  According to Ann Votaw  in Sasha Dolls The History, "From late 1965-1969, Gotz Sashas were exported to the United States, and the majority went to Creative Playthings, Inc.," thus dating this example.  Sasha Kate is a pretty doll with one stroke brown brows, slate colored painted eyes without wispy painted lashes, a delicate nose with black dotted nostrils, and pink pensive lips.  Oddly the area around her "mismatched"eyes are faintly blushed in red.  Her long glossy brunette  hair feels stiff as it may have been made from a nylon fiber.  Hard to tell--  Her bangs are wispy with longer "feathered" sides.  Two bobby pins (original?) hold her hair in place, one on either side.  When I combed her hair with a metal comb, minimal hairs fell out.  I tugged at her head and pulled out a strand or two.  Her hair is not "just falling out" on its own, in my opinion.  To further borrow from Anne Votaw, Sasha Kate's hair bears "the uneven hair-rooting patterns on many of the 1960's Gotz Sashas.  Often, the dolls have too little hair on top, and the plugs are unevenly spaced because the hair-rooting-machine operator did not follow a standard pattern when implanting hair plugs."  Sasha Kate's top head hairs are sparse in nature, though missing plugs are minimal.  Her vinyl body is strung with white cord that has loosened with age.  She may require restringing.  Her head is small and she does have a navel.  Oddly the vinyl of her arms, legs, and head is sticky to the touch and may need attention.  Her left upper thigh area sustains some faint red transfer of some sort.  Sasha Kate is an early and perhaps harder to find Gotz Sasha doll as she appears all original in her Viyelia dress and comes with her Creative Playthings box and paper tag.  Her clothing will be placed in a baggy inside the box.  No bad odors--  Only the scent of vinyl--
