An excellent portrait of a Regency gentleman named on the reverse as George Gibson Esq. He is a naval officer and in the background on the horizon is a sailing ship and a landing boat on the beach. Painted in watercolour onto organic wafer by the Scottish artist Andrew Robertson whilst working in Gerrard St, London and dated 1819. It is in very good condition with very strong colour and no paint loss or fading. Should you require additional photos please contact me.
The frame is ebonised with gilt highlighting and holds a gilded brass mount under which is the portrait. The size of the portrait is 8.7cm x 6.9 cm under and the frame is 13.1 cm x 11.2 cm.
