HP Victor  - 30th anniversary of the first flight of the Victor - signed cover

B43c RAF Museum Bomber Command cover commemorating the first flight of the Victor.  Artwork by John Young shows a Victor refuelling a Hercvules during July 1982 between Ascension islands and the Falkland Islands. .

Cover has been flown in a Victor of No 57 Squadron.

Air Vice Marshal Sir Ivor Broom KCB CBE DSO DFC** AFC

He joined the RAF as a trainee pilot in 1940 at the age of 19. 11 months later he was a sergeant pilot in 114 Squadron carrying out low level daylight bombing raids in Blenheim aircraft. He flew similar operations from Malta in 1941 with 105 and 107 Squadrons and whilst there was commssioned after 107 Squadron had lost all their officers. In 1943 he became a Mosquito instructor and at the end of WWII he was a Wing Commander in charge of 163 Mosquito Squadron in the Pathfinder Force. He completed over 100 bombing missions was awarded the DFC with two bars and also made a member of the DSO
After victroy in Europe he moved to the Far East and became Commanding Officer of 28 Squadron, In the early 1950s he became Commanding Officer od 57 Squadron the third jet bomber squaron (Canberras) to join the RAF. In 1956 he was awarded the AFC for a record breaking flight in a Canberra from Ottawa to London.In the early 1970s he was in charge of 11 Group and then in charge of the National Air Traffic Services and became the first serving officer to become a Member of the Board of the Civil Aviation Authority. He was knighted in 1975 and retired as an Air Marshal in 1977
