Lengthy, 3+ pg. letter, approx. 7-3/4" x 9-5/8", dated at Pontotoc, Mississippi, Aug. 1843, from "Ann Eliza" to her cousin, Miss Ann Partridge, in Elmira, NY.

The folded letter is torn at top right, which has resulted in a few holes in the letter sheets, causing some loss of text (see photos). One of the holes affects the dateline, leaving just "P....toc" of the name of the town, but she writes it out as Pontotoc in the letter itself, and also mentions a couple of other Mississippi towns - Columbus and Dayton (now Crosby, in Amite County).

A well-written letter, with good content, in which Ann Eliza writes her cousin Ann Partridge after having had a visit from her and "Uncle", writing of what's been going on since, battling weeds in her garden, and struggling with cooking, much like the authoress of "Troubles of a House-keeper".
