From a recent find in northern Holland, is this refined mid 19th century Dutch genre drawing.

The drawing, executed in pencil on rather thick 19th century paper, depicts an oriental rider and two horses.

Authorship : the drawing is from the Dutch School, signed right below "Jos. van Rijckevorsel".  This is the signature of junker Augustinus Josephus Aloysius van Rijckevorsel.

AUGUSTINUS JOSEPHUS ALOYSIUS VAN RIJCKEVORSEL (Rotterdam 1819 - the Hague 1892) : Painter, skilled draftsman and lithographer.  he was a pupil of his father J.J. baron van Rijckevorsel.  He was a painter of portraits and genre scenes.  He was a higly refined draftsman who had a preference for historical and orientalistic subjects, depicting riders and horses.

Period : ca. 1850.

Condition : Good.  Some scattered dirt throughout.  Unframed.
