Antique cobalt blue Bristol glass rolling pin.  These were given by sailors to their girl or wife when they went away, as a love or fidelity token, and to remind them that their man was at sea. This has a pontil scar on one end and was made circa 1800-1850. Most of these rolling pins had painted designs, poems or dedications on them. This one was painted with flowers and most likely a poem but most of it has worn away with time. It has a pleasing cobalt color with tinges of violet. In different light it looks more violet.   It measures 14 1/2" long by 2" in diameter. It weighs 10.4 ounces.
