This is an antique bench plane manufactured by Rockford Tool Company of Rockford, Illinois. Rockford was the sister company to H.C. Marsh Company and they occupied the same building. It is believed to be from the years between 1915-1924. This smooth bottom plane has the number "R5" cast into the heel. On the cutter the company's name is stamped, "ROCKFORD T.M.P. ROCKFORD, ILL, U.S.A." It has the original walnut tote and knob. The owner did carve their initials neatly into the tote; "R.P." It has an unmarked lateral lever and a small diameter brass blade adjuster with 3 rings. It appears to be solid and in very nice condition. Thank you for looking and God bless you.
