LOTS on Cannabis (marijuana) and Cocaine. Cannabis, we are told, produces "a marked euphoria, the pleasant experiences of which are keenly remembered." The authors note that cocaine has been in use for hundreds of years by South American natives, to ward off fatigue, but only recently (1884) were the local anesthetic proprerties of cocaine appreciated. Both drugs were legal in 1944.
