1967 Press Photo Greece - Guardsman at Royal Palace in Athens Ignores Tourist

This is an original press photo. Eyes straight ahead, a guardsman at the royal palace in Athen, Greece, ignores the presence of shapely German tourist. The guardsmen wears a tightly pleated "foustanella," a curt skirt. The historic ensemble is preserved as ceremonial wear by the three elite Evzone regiments in memory of similarly attired mountain peasants who fought the Ottoman invaders 500 years ago. Photo measures 6.5 x 7.75 inches. Photo is dated 01-09-1967.
