A remarkable find!~ this wonderful textile is a fully intact, c 1840 French bed cover, 100% hand stitched and hand quilted. This textile is designed to fit a mattress that measures 48 inches wide by 70 inches long and it has a valanced side on all 4 edges. The front toile was printed in Alsace c1830-1840. A beautiful textile that would have been part of a larger bed set ( please see my other quilted textiles for matching pieces) . This textile is 100% hand stitched and hand quilted ~ there is a trim along the bottom edge. Each side is finished! The backing is a heavy, nubby LOVELY homespun hemp of various weights and tones ~ This textile is in remarkable condition! it would be ideal to use exactly as is on an antique bed, however it would also be ideal for deconstruction ~ this textile is a very rare find ~ ~*~ ( Quilts 577)
MEASUREMENTS : The central section of this textile which would lay on top of the bed ( the square section ) measures 48 inches wide by 70 inches long. Each of the side valances is approximately 14 inches deep.
CONDITION:This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition with light storage dust. It can be machine washed on gentle and hung to dry. I keep these in as found condition for collectors, however it is a very simply textile to wash ! ~*~ This textile is in remarkable condition indeed! ~ There are a few very small holes in the front fabric, and some light and small marks ~ generally in stunning condition for it's age ~*~
