Description:
MAKER: Jacobus Stainer Copy, Made In Germany.
MEASUREMENTS - Overall Length - (APPROXIMATELY): 23 1/4 Inches Long
MEASUREMENTS - Body - (APPROXIMATELY): 8 Inches Wide x 14 Inches Tall
CONDITION & COMMENTS: This violin was recently found in an Old Mansion in the Avondale area of Cincy. As you can see, this Early violin does need some restoration. It does have expected wear and scuffs. The neck is loose from the body (see picture). The fingerboard has been glued back on and is in need of proper placement (it is down and slightly off center to the neck). There is a mark on the back of the neck from the clamp that was used. There is a line on the front, I'm not sure if it is a very tight crack or the finish has popped along the grain. The wooden coffin case also shows expected wear, scuffs, etc. There is a crack on the lid and some wood loss on the bottom. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the limits set by eBay, I could not load all the pictures I have of the violin, so, if you need to see more, let me know and I will send you the other seven pictures I have.
