DER BAUMEISTER: Monatsheft fur Baukultur und Baupraxis

Issue 11 / November 1938

A rare copy of the influential Bauhaus-era journal, published by the famous specialist art and design
publishing house Georg D. W. Callwey, Muenchen.

This important periodical for architects and interior designers catalogued the period of the emergence of modernist design and functionalism in the years following the dramatic emergence of the Bauhaus. It is full of photographs of contemporary architecture, furniture and interiors as well as contemporary advertisements. The magazine is a fascinating time-capsule reflecting the troubled historical context and rise of powerful forces ideologically opposed to many of the defining principles of the Bauhaus's modernising project.

Condition: It is complete and in generally good condition with some expected wear to the covers and spine. There is a diagonal crease across the front cover and some loss to the spine. Internally it is clean and bright with only minor ageing and with sound binding.

A rare opportunity to acquire a fascinating document of Twentieth Century design history. Walter Gropius Wiener

Payment and Postage

Paypal is accepted and I do not add a surcharge to cover their fees. UK buyers only may also pay by cheque or postal order. If it's a cheque, please allow 7 to 10 days for it to clear. It may be possible for overseas customers to pay by another means by prior arrangement.

All buyers please make contact within 3 days of auction. Payment is required within 7 days.

Non-payment

All non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. It's hard enough to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder.

Condition of items

Please note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique items and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs.

Vintage electrical items

Unless clearly stated otherwise in the description, vintage electrical items are sold in their original condition so should be safety checked by an electrician before use.
