RAF CDR21a RAF Museum cover commemorating MRAF Sir Keith Williamson, Chief of the Air Staff 1982-1985 showing a picture of himself surrounded by a gold border. The cover bears 22p defin stamp cancelled with BFPS 2133 RAF Binbrook Open Day Lightning postmark.

The cover has been flown in a Lightning T5 XS 458 by MRAF Sir Keith Williamson himself, who has a great number of hours on the Lightning aircraft. The cover has been signed by MRAF Sir Keith Williamson himself, who was the Chief of Air Staff during the Falklands War in 1982.

Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Keith Williamson GCB AFC FRAeS

Williamson joined the RAF and was awarded his commission in 1950. He saw action in Korea in 1953 flying with the Royal Australian Air Force. He was Commanding Officer 23 Squadron 1966-68 flying the English Electric Lightning, he was Station Commander RAF Gutersloh 1968-70.  He attended the Royal College Defence Studies in 1971, before becoming Director Air Staff Plans through until 75. He was the posted as the Commandant RAF Staff College 1975-77. He was posted to SHAPE in 1977 as Assistant Chief of Staff (Plans and Policy). In 1978 he was AOC-in-C RAF Support Command, before becoming AOC-in-C  Strike Command and Commander United Kingdom Air Forces from 1980 to 1982. He was Chief of the Air Staff 1982-85.  AFC 1968; GCB 1982 (KCB 1979); Air ADC to the Queen 1982-85.
