The Pauline Israeli Congregation (CIP) was founded in 1936 by a group of Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany.

Some of the founders were Elze Silberstein and Heinz Silberstein.

The CIP, as it is better known, is the largest Jewish congregation in Latin America, with a membership of around two thousand families and attendees. It organizes various activities: religious services, Jewish study groups, Jewish school, choir, Fritz Pinkuss field of studies, youth movements Chazit Hanoar and Avanhandava, standing out positively in the Jewish community of São Paulo, estimated at just over sixty thousand people.

The rabbinate of the Congregation currently participates in two movements: liberal Judaism (Reform Judaism) and conservative Judaism. It is currently led by Rabbi Ruben Sternschein and Michel Schlesinger and by Rabbi Fernanda Tomchinsky-Galanternik. There are also the chazanim (cantors) Avi Bursztein and Alexander Edelstein.
