This is an Antique 1828 Pencil Drawing of Bearded Man in Joshua Gosselin Folio Dated 1750. This is an excellent pencil drawing dated 1828 from the J.Whatman paper on which it is drawn. It comes in a brown paper "folio" from 1750, written on in hand calligraphy. It reads: Livre a Defsiner a Josue Gosselin, le 30. Juin 1750. Joshua Gosselin was alive between 1739-1813 and is a well known Artist. This sketch is a pencil drawing on watermarked, J.Whatman 1828 paper. The paper has acquired patina around the edges, which enhances the appearance of the sketch. It has beautiful detail and you can see great detail in every pencil stroke. The detail in the flow of the man's beard and hair are stunning. The paper was not easy to get hold of at the time or affordable, which gives an insight to the artist.
