Priced according to condition

Based on 1851 and later watercolor prints; this 1937 lithographic print is so faithful to the originals that I had to look closely to see it was not actually hand water-colored.  Good color rendition.

PUBLISHED DATE 1937
ENGRAVER/ARTIST Ramon Torres Mendez, painter of Colombian customs (1809-1885); is often cited as being the dominate influence on Columbian art.  Mendez received no formal artistic training but in his youth was attached to Messrs. Fox and Stokes, a Bogota print shop, where his skill as a draftsman was recognized. He specialized in capturing in his drawings the activities and recreations of the inhabitants of Bogota.
