This kit contains everything you need (except thread) to complete this project, including beautiful hand dyed fabric from Starr Design Fabrics, batik fabric, fusible fleece (instead of batting), fusible web, and even backing fabric! Having all this in the kit saves you time and money. Less running around to get supplies means you can get right to sewing. There is no curved piecing. Free motion stitching does add a lot to the finished quilt, but it is not necessary. The decorative stitches also add a lot, but it can be done without those as well. The batik fabric (there's only one) may vary from the photo, but will have the same overall look. It's a fairly quick and very fun project! For thread, I used dark green, brown, rust, and gold. A regular school glue stick is very helpful also, the purple kind is fine. 

This design was inspired by fall in Interior Alaska (which comes in late August). We don’t have some of the same colors that we grew up with in the Midwest, with the reds and oranges here coming more from ground cover than maple trees – still spectacular!
