Foreigners associate Holland with tulips and other flowers, famous cities, Amsterdam, windmills, the struggle to tame the sea, coastal areas and water sports.
The image is enhanced by the postcards that visitors send to their families, friends and colleagues.
The series of stamps issued by PTT Post today on 31 May 1996 is dedicated entirely to holidays. The flowers featured on the stamps only serve to strenghten the image of Holland as the 'Flower of Europe'.
