This is a rare playbill from the week of July 20th, 1953 for the Summer Stock engagement of the RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical "CAROUSEL" at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine ..... The musical starred BARBARA COOK as "Carrie Pepperidge", PAT NORTHRUP as "Julie Jordan", TOM RIEDER as "Billy Bigelow" and PAUL BROWN as "Enoch Snow" and included LOIS VAN PELT, SCOTT MERRILL, LYNN KENDALL, MONA TRITSCH, KENNETH LeROY and ANN BARRY ..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN 2nd based on the play "Liliom" by FERENC MOLNAR. (This was the second collaboration for Rodgers & Hammerstein after "Oklahoma!". They would go on to write "The King and I", "South Pacific", "Flower Drum Song" and "The Sound of Music" among others); Sets designed by PERCY NUTTING and BENJAMIN GILBERT; Costumes designed by JOE CROSBY; Choreographed by JUNE GRAHAM; Directed by WILLIAM HAMMERSTEIN; Produced by JOHN LANE ..... DETAILS: The 20 page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and brief bios of each of the leading actors, but no cast photos ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian.
