This is a rare January 9th, 1933 broadside (single page playbill) from the one-week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the NOEL COWARD play "DESIGN FOR LIVING" at the Nixon Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (The production would open January 24th, 1933 at New York's Ethel Barrymore Theatre and run for 135 performances.) ..... The play starred ALFRED LUNT, LYNN FONTANNE and NOEL COWARD and featured CAMPBELL GULLEN, GLADYS HENSON, PHILIP TONGE, WARD BISHOP, ETHEL BORDEN, PHYLLIS CONNARD, ALAN CAMPBELL and MACLEARY STINNETT ..... CREDITS: Book by NOEL COWARD; Sets designed by G. E. CALTHROP; Staged by NOEL COWARD; Produced by MAX GORDON ..... DETAILS: The single page, one-sided playbill measures 5 1/4" X 12 1/2" inches and includes full production credits, cast list and synopsis of scenes, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) The broadside has several heavy folds and has warn through in places along those folds. There are also several small edge tears and handwritten notes in pencil on the backside. Despite these flaws, this rare broadside will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
