This is a rare February 17th, 1947 playbill from the Pre-Broadway tryout of the JEAN COCTEAU romantic melodrama "THE EAGLE HAS TWO HEADS" at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (The production would open March 19th, 1947 at the Plymouth Theatre in New York City and close after only 29 performances.) ..... The production starred TALLULAH BANKHEAD and featured HELMUT DANTINE (who had replaced MARLON BRANDO during the out-of-town tryouts), CLARENCE DERWENT, WALTER BROOKE, ELEANOR WILSON and CHEROKEE THORNTON ..... CREDITS: Book by JEAN COCTEAU; Adapted from the French by RONALD DUNCAN; Sets designed by DONALD OENSLAGER; Costumes designed by ALINE BERNSTEIN; Produced and Directed by JOHN C. WILSON ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing and minor edge wear, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
