I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ........ This is a rare January 25th, 1954 playbill (with an original ticket stub) from the Pre-Broadway tryout and WORLD PREMIERE engagement of the SIGMUND ROMBERG, JEROME CHODOROV, JOSEPH FIELDS and LEO ROBIN musical comedy "THE GIRL IN PINK TIGHTS" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The show would open March 5th, 1954 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York City and close after only 115 performances.) ..... The musical starred JEANMAIRE and CHARLES GOLDNER and featured DAVID BROOKS (replaced in Philadelphia by DAVID ATKINSON), BRENDA LEWIS, ALEXANDRE KALIOUJNY, ROBERT SMITH, JOSHUA SHELLEY, DANIA KRUPSKA, JOHN TALIAFERRO, MAURICE HINES as a "Newspaper Boy", GREGORY HINES as a "Shoe Shine Boy" (both would be making their Broadway debuts), TED THURSTON, JENNY WORKMAN, MARNI NIXON (Broadway debut) and BERYL TOWBIN ..... CREDITS: Music by SIGMUND ROMBERG (his final musical which opened posthumously); Lyrics by LEO ROBIN; Book by JEROME CHODOROV and JOSEPH FIELDS; Sets designed by ELDON ELDER; Costumes designed by MILES WHITE; Choreographed by AGNES DE MILLE; Directed by SHEPARD TRAUBE; Produced by SHEPARD TRAUBE in association with ANTHONY B.
