Originally published in 1887, this is the First Edition with the Austin Osman Spare cover art. This edition is more sought after than the 1887 Edition because of the cover art. The artwork on the cover of this copy is in rather nice condition.

Octavo, vi, 563 pages, publisher's original gray cloth covered boards that feature artwork by Austin Osman Spare on the top board and spine. Some minor rubbing, some slight discoloration and soiling, the cover art is still really nice and usually is found scuffed, some fraying from a small split towards the top of spine, else in very good condition.
