This is a beautiful June 19th, 1950 playbill (with a closing performance ticket stub) from the Original Broadway production of the JEAN GIRAUDOUX play "THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT" at the New York City Center of Music and Drama Theatre in New York City. (The production opened December 27th, 1948 at New York's Royale Theatre and ran for 368 performances before going on the road. Following the tour, the production returned to the New York City Center on June 13th, 1950 for an additional seventeen performances.) ..... The play starred MARTITA HUNT (winner of the 1949 Tony Award for "Best Actress in a Play") and featured JOHN CARRADINE, ESTELLE WINWOOD, NYDIA WESTMAN, ELEONORA MENDELSSOHN, MARTIN KOSLECK, JONATHAN HARRIS and LOUIS SORIN ..... Side Note: Giraudoux's "THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT" was the basis of the 1969 JERRY HERMAN, JEROME LAWRENCE and ROBERT E. CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
