I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ....... This is a rare October 1st, 1968 "Stage" program (playbill) from the three-week, out-of-town tryout of the BRUCE J. FRIEDMAN and RICHARD ADLER musical disappointment "A MOTHER'S KISSES" at the Morris Mechanic Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland. (The production opened September 23rd, 1968 at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut and closed October 19th, 1968 in Baltimore, failing to arrive at New York's 46th Street Theatre for the scheduled October 29th, 1968 opening.) ..... The musical starred BEATRICE ARTHUR in her first starring role and featured BILL CALLAWAY, CARL BALLANTINE, RUDY BOND, ALAN NORTH, NED WERTIMER, RENEE ROY, KATE WILKINSON, RUTH JAROSLOW, DANIEL GOLDMAN, ARTHUR ANDERSON ..... DETAILS: The twenty page playbill measures approx. 8" X 8" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers, individual photos and bios of each of the leading actors and bios of each member of the creative team. Also includes an insert with the revised list of musical numbers (last scanned image) ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing at the lower right and a small tear in the top right corner of the cover, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
