Primitive Antique Round Tin Sifter Wire Screen Separator Sieve with Loop
For Hanging - Primitive Farmhouse Kitchen Decor -
8-1/4" Round
This separator sieve has a small fine screen
with sloping sides, small round pedestal, and a small metal loop for hanging. The fine intact wire mesh is firmly attached
to the frame with hand-soldered seams and a
bottom that is also hand-soldered to sides. The sieve side consist
of 1 panel joined by lapped edges. No manufacturer names that I note. CONDITION: Very good, with lovely aged
patina that tin develops through the decades. There is no damage and is clean. Firm and structurally sound this sieve sits evenly. One small
dot of rust on the inside with no rust-through broken areas. Mostly
dark tin patina. One shallow dent crease. Has a great primitive
look. So many ways to repurpose. It is
in as found condition and has not been cleaned to retain its primitive
appearance. This will make a spectacular addition to your collection and
to enhance a existing tin collection. Irregularities in the surface belong to this country item and are
consciously wanted and represent no lack of quality. The
sifter is 8-1/4 inches in diameter at the top. The pedestal base is 4-1/2 inches
in diameter standing 3 inches tall. Weighs 4 ounces. Acquired
at a Western New York estate auction in an old country farmhouse. Nice
old primitive piece in very good condition with wear consistent with the age
dating from the turn of the century. Perfect for holding fruits and
vegetables, displaying shells at the beach, hanging on the wall or using as a
centerpiece. I fill it with cranberries and christmas bulbs at Christmas
as part of a display. Today it would serve well as a primitive or antique decorating
item in a country kitchen or farming related display.
