10 ml Heat Tolerant Lion’s Mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) liquid culture
The Lion's Mane is toothed fungus, which forms tooth-like spine structures instead of gills. This is a species that often spontaneously fruits on agar and sawdust substrates but can be slow to colonize grain spawn. This particular strain was isolated in the USA during mid-Summer and can be fruited under much higher temperatures than regular strains. This is, however, a versatile strain and is more than happy at lower temperatures too - a great all rounder!
The Lion's Mane mushroom has been used for hundreds of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine and makes a tasty meal reminiscent of lobster when cooked in butter!

FAQs
How to use the liquid culture: Liquid culture should not be used to directly inoculate bulk substrates. Rather this liquid culture should be used to initially prepare grain spawn by inoculating hydrated and sterilized grains (e.g. wheat, rye, millet, wild bird seed). This should be done under sterile conditions. Once the grain spawn is fully colonised it can be used to inoculate a sterilised hardwood sawdust based bulk substrate.
Production: Our liquid cultures are produced using dextrose/malt extract/yeast extract nutrient mixes. Cultures are drawn up in front of a H14 rated HEPA equipped laminar flow hood and sealed with a sterile luer-lock cap. Every batch of our liquid cultures are then grown out on agar to check they are clean and viable before being made available.
Cleanliness: We make every effort to ensure that our cultures will arrive with you clean and viable. If you experience any problems at all please contact us.
