This is a rare October 1964 programme (playbill) from the original production of the RICCARDO ARAGNO play "OBLOMOV" at the New Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith in West London. (The production opened October 7th, 1964 at the New Lyric Theatre where it played five weeks before transferring on December 2nd, 1964 as "Son of Oblomov" to the Comedy Theatre in the West End for a run of 559 performances.) ..... Based on the Russian classic by Ivan Goncharov, the play starred SPIKE MILLIGAN, who played most of the title role in bed. Unsure of his material, on the opening night he improvised a great deal, treating the audience as part of the plot, and he continued in this diverting manner for the rest of the run, and on tour as "Son Of Oblomov". In addition to SPIKE MILLIGAN, the play starred JOAN GREENWOOD and BILL OWEN and featured IAN FLINTOFF, JOHN COLLINS, PETER EYRE, DERVIS WARD, TRISTRAM JELLINEK, ILONA RODGERS and MARJIE LAWRENCE .....
