Icom CT-17 USB CI-V CAT Control Cable
This cable is designed specifically for CAT (Computer Aided Transceiver) system, which controls transceiver frequency, mode and other functions by computer, supporting most Icom (CI-V) transceivers. It is identical to the original Icom CT-17 cable. The cable itself does not produce interferences. An external power supply is not required. The power supply is done over the USB interface, following the USB 2.0 specs.
The cable communicates directly with a PC through the now popular and standard USB interface. It emulates a Serial Port but that port communicates with a radio at TTL voltage levels. A Serial Port connection is not needed since the cable emulates one for you. The cable is compatible with all versions of Windows® that support USB operation. This only includes Windows® 98SE, ME, W2K, XP or higher.
Many up to date notebook computers support only USB interfaces, but no more Serial Ports. On a desktop PC the few serial devices are already in use. You can connect as many USB devices as you want to your PC. The cable is a new CAT interface for USB 2.0 or USB 1.1, for all those PCs without Serial Ports.

The Icom UX-14 converter is required for radios equipped with the CI-IV system: IC-1271A, IC-1271E, IC-271A, IC-271E, IC-271H, IC-371, IC-471A, IC-471E, IC-471H, IC-750, IC-750A, IC-751, IC-751A, IC-R71A, IC-R71D and IC-R71E. The UX-14 allows a CI-IV radio to utilize the CI-V system. To control these CI-IV radios remotely with this cable, an optional UX-14 converter must be installed.
