Artist of the opera (lyric-dramatic tenor), director and teacher.

Honored Artist of the Republic (1928).

He studied singing in Milan with Professor F. Pozzo. In 1886 he performed in the musical and dramatic Ukrainian troupe of Kropyvnytskyi, in 1887 - 1892. sang in the Petersburg court singing chapel.
In 1892 - 1898. toured in opera houses of Kiev, Kharkov, Tiflis, Baku, Odessa.
In 1898, he first performed at the Mariinsky Theater.
In 1902 - 1903 he worked in Moscow in the entreprise of Medvedev,
in 1903 - 1907 and 1913-1919 in Zimin's opera. In 1907 - 1913 - in St. Petersburg and the province. Possessed a sonorous, strong voice, great temperament.

In 1924-1925 - the main director of the Odessa Opera House. Since 1925 - the main director of the Baku Opera House. In 1931-1932 - the organizer and chief director of the Rostov Opera House, on the stage of which he himself occasionally performed.

In 1923 he taught stage skills at the Rostov Conservatory, later - at the Odessa Music College.
